Scaling and Root Planing in Suwanee, GA
Keep your gums healthy
We help you address gum disease
Scaling and root planing, also often called a “deep cleaning”, is one of the most common and effective treatments we recommend for gum disease before it becomes severe. This treatment focuses on cleaning beneath your gum line, removing plaque and tartar build-up, and improving your gum health.
As a periodontist, Dr. Li is the right person to help you prevent and address gum disease. We offer an incredible patient experience to make your scaling and root planing treatment easy and effective. Schedule a consultation to get started.
What is scaling and root planing?
Think of scaling and root planing as an extra thorough dental cleaning. Unlike your routine dental cleaning, scaling and root planing cleans beneath your gums and includes two main steps:
We remove plaque and tartar from the tooth surface
We clean the roots of your teeth, smoothing them to remove bacterial toxins
Why scaling and root planing?
Plaque is always forming on your teeth. Regular dental cleanings, along with thorough brushing and flossing at home, can help keep plaque under control. However, if plaque and calculus advance beyond the gum line, they cannot be removed anymore with regular brushing, and gum disease and periodontitis can develop. In this case, scaling and root planing is a great way to address the issue before it causes greater damage.
